DJ Pierre will be weaving a funky spell on the Living Room this Saturday. For people in the know, this the only place to kick back, chill, dance, and enjoy some great music you won't hear anywhere else. DJ Pierre: Brought up on a steady diet of BMX bikes & Depeche Mode this 30 something South African native was thrust head first, stomping and cheering, into the world of house music by a random purchase of Arthur Baker's classic 'I.O.U.'. After going full circle through the entire musical stratosphere over the following years; joining the dots between house, reggae, rock and alternative, he has finally found his true calling between the sick and slick grooves of the feeling that is house music. Owner of the infamous Phat Beat Records in Cape Town, he left his stamp on the local scene by first supplying the tightest of grooves to the local heads, and then taking his refined skills to the turntables of some of Cape Town's scariest and lairiest venues like Club More, Rhythm Divine and the messiest of them all, the O-Bar. After having moved to Taiwan in 2002, he brought with him his expert selection, fine ear for the most soulful of grooves and infectious enthusiasm to the island. Anyone who has experienced any of his 6 hour plus sets at The Soundgarden will testify to his ability to make the dawn of another day a special, spiritual thing. This will be the party to attend in Taipei. We are starting our party at 3am, after all the other clubs are coming down, and will party until the earth eventually spins around 10 hours later and the New Year arrives in New York City. It's more laid back and groovelicious, rather than the basic happy sounding vocal music of NYC style house. You can tell it's Deep House by the rolling basslines and the use of Jazz/Fusion and Soul music samples which are never far away. One of a kind live DJ and saxophone jam, bringing together two old friends. Corbett Wall and DJ @llen sparked live experimental electronica fires 6 years ago at the now defunct Opium Den. The Taipei scene has changed dramatically since then. It will be interesting to see what they come up with now.
