Every year, dozens of fifth graders in teams from public schools all across the New York City engage in a hotly contested competition to determine which school has produced the year’s best ballroom dancers. The competition is the culmination of months of intense, sometimes chaotic, and frequently humorous rehearsals captured in this joyful and uplifting film.

Three films each night this weekend will stimulate you to reflect upon your life, as well as meditate upon ideas that perhaps have never been considered.

Tonight's showings:

7:00pm - Dream for an Insomniac – directed by Tiffanie DeBartolo

A break from the heavy subject matter of the night before, this is not your typical romantic comedy. The two leads, Frankie, played by Ione Skye, a cynical realist, yet a passionately hopeless romantic with an insomnia problem, and David Shrader, played by Mackenzie Astin, a writer who has lost inspiration, engage in witty, and charming philosophical banter, as they dance around their attraction for one another. Dream for an Insomniac is one of those lesser-known films, that deserves a lot more recognition.

9:00pm - Run Lola Run – directed by Tom Tykwer

A heart-pounding MTV style piece that explores the repercussions of the decisions we make and questions the existence of fate. This is a German film that follows the day of Lola as she races against time to save her boyfriend, Mani, from death, taking you on "three different journeys, all controlled by fate, showing you what would happen in each, and all the "what if's" that provide the foundations for each outcome."

11:00pm - When Night is Falling – directed by Patricia Rozema

A conservative woman, Camille, and her long-time boyfriend, Martin, are next-in-line for a promotion to head a Protestant university, and are forcibly pressured into marriage for the face of the institution. Her beloved dog dies one day, and she is devastated. In a chance meeting with free-spirited Petra, a traveling circus artist, her entire life is turned upside down as she is faced with her sexuality in her intense feelings for Petra, who has fallen in love with her, and makes overt sexual advances.

7:00pm - Avalon – directed by Mamoru Oshii

A breathtaking, sweeping piece shot by the director of "Ghost in the Shell," Mamoru Oshii, well-known for his beautiful moodsetting. The film is a real-life anime, set "in a future world where young people are increasingly becoming addicted to an illegal (and potentially deadly) battle simulation game galled "Avalon." When Ash, a star player, hears of rumors that a more advanced level of the game exists somewhere, she gives up her loner ways and joins a gang of explorers. Even if she finds the gateway to the next level, will she ever be able to come back to reality?"

9:00pm - Requiem for a Dream – directed by Darren Aronofsky

On the surface, a film about addiction, and how it destroys our lives. At core, a spiritual exploration into desire, dependency and the spiral into losing all control, when our ugliest and purest selves emerge in the chaos when gripped by desperation.

Beautifully designed, every shot is mesmerizing. Darren Aronofsky, well known for his work in "Pi," designed special cameras to set the tone and express his message in captivating imagery and brilliant innovation.

11:00pm - Memento – directed by Christopher Nolan

A psychological thriller which takes you through the journey of self-discovery, as a man who can only remember the events leading up to the rape and murder of his wife, undertakes a mission for revenge. Due to the trauma experienced through the ordeal, he has lost the ability to create new memories, and can only experience a few minutes of consciousness at a time, before he blanks out. As a means to remind himself and keep the flow of his new life, he tattoos his body and leave notes for himself everywhere to remind himself of his cause, and to serve as his external memory.
