The lead character, Jasiu, is a Polish-American who has been taught not to value his own roots, so he decides to make new ones, reinventing himself first as a sort of non-ethnic everyman, then as an "Irishman." In the end, by trying to get away from his ethnic background, Jasiu find out who he really is, and learns to value it. Outcast Theatre is a new English language theatre group. Most members have trodden the boards together before, though this performance also features an injection of talented new blood. In a special Living Room booking, actor Mauro Sacchi will be performing a one man piece entitled "Fragments of What is Necessary." "I am interested in people, in their processes, their struggles, their conflicts and conscious and unconscious resolutions. Their joys. Are artists blessed with more depth of feeling and understanding than their fellow humans, and thus able to make visible what was invisible? Are they blessed--and cursed--to live a life that is necessarily more intense, more satisfying, more heartbreaking? I believe the artistic process is akin to the "normal" process of being alive, presenting, in a magnified version perhaps, the same problems, frustrations, anxieties that we all face: to look at the creative methods and mechanisms, then, is to look at humanity itself, at the shared consciousness that makes us all who we are, and able to relate on a very basic level, to dialogue and learn, and overcome obstacles and interruptions. This fragment, this performance, is an attempt to do just that, and present these issues, for myself and others, on stage. It may be immediate enough to prove effective and worthwhile." I believe the artistic process presents, in a magnified version, the same problems, frustrations, anxieties that we all face as human beings.
