One of a kind live DJ and saxophone jam, bringing together two old friends. Corbett Wall and DJ @llen sparked live experimental electronica fires 6 years ago at the now defunct Opium Den. The Taipei scene has changed dramatically since then. It will be interesting to see what they come up with now. 緬懷戰地殉職記者--丹尼•波爾紀念音樂日本週六舉行 台北外籍記者協會(The Taipei Foreign Correspondents' Club; TFCC)本(十)月18日舉辦丹尼•波爾紀音樂會，以促進?amp;#20154;性和諧?amp;#65292;同時藉此將台灣納為全球三十餘國，超過200場次的丹尼•波爾紀念音樂活動，以緬懷因戰火罹難的記者丹尼•波爾(Daniel Pearl)。 本屆丹尼•波爾紀念音樂日是第二度舉辦，特別安排在10月份係為悼念丹尼•波爾滿40歲的冥誕。台北外籍記者協會將於本週六(18日)晚間8點起，假位於台北市南京東路5段8號3樓之The Living Room舉行該活動，音樂會對外公開，完全免費。當晚活動內容豐富，邀請到Bluegrass Trio詮釋經典老調，以及Monkeyfinger劇團演出融合莎翁與現代散文之默劇獨白，同時還有Ass9樂團的精采獻演。 丹尼•波爾紀念音樂日是丹尼•波爾基金會推動的活動之一，以緬懷於2002年2月在巴基斯坦遭殺害的華爾街日報記者丹尼•波爾(Daniel Pearl)。基金會推動紀念音樂日，首在藉該等活動促進世人相互了解，以增長世界和諧與人際溝通。基金會也特別強調將不在紀念音樂日當天進行任何募款活動。 丹尼•波爾本人生前精通各類古點弦樂，諸如小提琴、月琴以及曼陀鈴。丹尼•波爾在世時不論居住在何地都會加入當地大大小小的樂團，廣結各國善緣，他生前眾多好友有不少是音樂家，大家也都希望能用音樂這種世界語言來促進丹尼•波爾的執著－容忍與永不絕望。 台北外籍記者協會會長，同時為華爾街日報的丁傑生 (Jason Dean)指出，丹尼•波爾生前一向樂觀，總是以無比的熱誠突破種種人際藩籬，工作上如此，生活中亦是，他尤其是以?對音樂的全然擁抱?amp;#20358;促進人際和諧。一年一度的丹尼•波爾紀念音樂日就是延續他對人性永不失望的精神，希望能減少存在於種族與文化間的隔閡，以及因不了解而產生的嫌隙與憎恨。 丹尼•波爾紀念音樂日於去年首度辦理，共在全球18個國家舉行百場以上的活動；本次第二屆規模成長至30餘國，全球各地將在10月7日至19日間舉行200場以上的活動，參與者從業餘音樂人到大型交響樂團都有。 丹尼•波爾的父親表示，全球各地友人以這種有意義的方式紀念丹尼•波爾，同時提醒世人體認透過音樂的力量，人性可以更契合，人類可以更和睦，而世界和諧可以增長。對老年喪子的丹尼父親Judea來說，紀念音樂日是他每年最窩心的時刻。 紀念丹尼•波爾的同時，台北外籍記者協會同時也緬懷全球其他因報導伊拉克戰火而因公殉職的記者同業: Michael Kelly of The Atlantic Monthly, Terry Lloyd of ITV, Christian Liebig of Focus, Julio Anguita Parrado of El Mundo, Tareq Ayyoub of Al-Jazeera, Jos?Couso of Telecinco, Taras Protsyuk and Mazen Dana of Reuters, Jeremy Little of NBC News, and free-lancers Paul Moran, Kaveh Golestan and Richard Wild.

The event is part of a worldwide celebration in memory of slain Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl, who would have turned 40 years old this month. Taipei audiences are invited to attend a music celebration with a variety of performances on Saturday October 18, 8:00 PM, at The Living Room located at Nanjing East Road, Section 5, No. 8, 3F. The event is free and open to the public. The Daniel Pearl Foundation was created by family and friends of Daniel Pearl, after he was kidnapped and murdered while working on a story in Pakistan. The mission of the foundation is to carry on his legacy of promoting understanding among people of different cultures through journalism, music and innovative communications. The Foundation has asked participants that there be no fundraising for the Foundation on Music Day. "By all accounts, Danny Pearl lived a life joyously devoted to breaking down the barriers between peoples and cultures in his journalism, in his day-to-day dealings with others, and, not least, in his embrace of music. Once a year, the Daniel Pearl Music Day reminds people around the globe of that great spirit, and, hopefully, helps make this a more harmonious world in which fewer people like Danny are taken from us by the forces of hatred and divisiveness. The Taipei Foreign Correspondents' Club is proud to help bring this celebration to Taiwan this year," said Jason Dean, President, TFCC. The second annual Daniel Pearl Music Day will include over 200 musical events in over 30 countries between October 7 and 19, 2003. Some call it a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing... For those who know, the term brings back images of legendary NYC clubs like Studio 54, The Loft, and of late, "Body and Soul" at Vinyl and the current Shelter. It's a music based on New York's multicultural heritage - a mix of 70's disco and funk with deeper, blacker roots in gospel and soul, with Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythmic influences. Listening to it takes you from the cobblestone streets of Tribeca to rough-and-tumble Bronx to Spanish Harlem (El Barrio) and everywhere in between, evoking the bass notes of the city, ringing full of jazziness, deepness, and most of all, LIFE. New York House is best presented with no glamorous accoutrements. All it takes is an unadorned room, an intimate and inviting vibe, a proper sound system and a DJ who knows what he or she is doing.
